Here is a short excerpt from the intro:
Before arriving in Hollywood, wide-eyed and not particularly street-smart, I lived the life of a semi-normal artist. I was completely self-taught up until formal college at age 18, when I sought both an AAA and BFA degrees from Hawkeye Institute of Technology in Iowa and Kansas City Art Institute in Missouri, respectively.
I spent a great deal of my youth experimenting wildly with various media, tools, and techniques. I was able to develop unique styles for my Rock ’n Roll celebrity portraits. Through extreme patience and dedication to my craft, I had mastered a great deal and created the kind of art portfolio that opened doors without me having to speak one syllable.
My big break in Hollywood came only sixteen hours after arriving, and it was Grammy Award-winner Wayne Isham who hired me right on the spot. He ran The Company. Wayne created and directed legendary music videos at a time when MTV was blowing up. I immediately joined his small team in the art department. I began working directly with Michael Jackson, KISS, Motley Crue, Judas Priest, Bon Jovi, Whitney Houston, The Whispers, The Coasters, Sammy Hagar, The Cutting Crew, SADE, Poison, Dick Clark, and so many more. Many of these music icons were my heroes, and I was living in that surreal world for well over 32 years.
As I began applying my trade, over 20,000 rock bands were trying to make it big in Hollywood. I made a name for myself and subsidised my meager income by hitting the famous Sunset Strip every weekend, passing out my business cards and doing deals directly with the bands and their managers. I created everything from business cards and show flyers to band logos, album covers, posters, and all kinds of promotional art. I even got to do many 5’x5’ music portraits for the famous Tower Records building exterior on Sunset Boulevard.
Being in the industry and an employee of The Company afforded me the luxury of hanging out with the bands and all kinds of groupies. My backstage favorite was at the world-famous Troubadour, where I got to hang out with and even work with both Guns ’n Roses and Sibling Rivalry. I also frequented the Roxy, Gazzarri’s, and the Whisky a Go Go. The energy was electric on Friday and Saturday nights with thousands of bands and fans packing the clubs and every square inch of neon-lit sidewalk. Sex, drugs, and a hell of a lot of Rock ’n Roll was the name of the game, and it was game, and I played it like a pro.
I am currently creating, producing, editing, and directing a revolutionary and epic Music Video for 'Dogg Pound Official Business' directly with the legend himself: RBX, The Narrator! Global release of this video will be in late September 2025.
I always look forward to signing my art, such a rewarding part of the process after all the hard work is done.
